Activity Coordinators are Keyworkers

Dear all,
We have had several requests for information regarding whether Activity staff are considered key workers.
We now have confirmation- Click here
It states:
“This includes but is not limited to doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics, social workers, care workers, and other front-line health and social care staff including volunteers; the support and specialist staff required to maintain the UK’s health and social care sector; those working as part of the health and social care supply chain, including producers and distributors of medicines and medical and personal protective equipment.”
So it is clear that alongside staff delivering care and support, this vital offer is open to those providing activity and engagement, catering, cleaning, maintenance, administration, transport and transport and other vital services that keep your organisation going.
We know from many of our members that schools had pre-empted this announcement yesterday, and were stipulating in their advice that both parents had to be key workers in order to be able to access this support. This is definitely NOT the case, and it says clearly in section 4.2 of the guidance. Do encourage your staff to go back to schools, or if necessary the local authority to ensure that they can access this important support for their children and which will enable them to continue to work. The guidance also suggests that they will be asking schools to continue this service over the Easter Holidays.
The full detailed information for parents – including this critical clause – can be found here.
The National Care Forum have put together a Practical Help area on their website that may be of interest at this time- Click here
Many thanks,
The NAPA Team
