Some of you may remember the article from the Molly & Bill project  in the last magazine – Winter Issue 3 2017. We are thrilled to be able to share the report with you. It makes for some interesting reading.

‘The Molly and Bill project is a partnership between VAC, Calderdale Commissioning Group and Calderdale Council. It was also supported by a Big Lottery Awards for All grant and the Abraham Ormerod Trust. The aim of the pilot was to deliver a range of creative activities for older residents in 6 care settings across Calderdale, working with creative providers, local community groups and volunteers.

Residents have been involved in gardening, arts and crafts, community arts projects, chair based circle dance, music making, reminiscence, family history and cooking. Volunteers have also supported activity sessions and spent time on a 1:1 basis getting to know residents and sharing their skills.

As a pilot, Molly and Bill has received positive feedback from residents, their families, care managers and staff and volunteers. Going forward, we intend to build on the successes and consolidate the project to generate an ethos of creative care and community involvement that enriches the lives of older people in residential settings.
